What fits

Online-first and testable.

Apps, websites, software, online services, digital products, content-backed services, commerce, and practical product businesses that can start with a credible online presence and a controlled test.

Practical product work can fit.

Printing, embroidery, merchandise, and similar work can fit when the sales path, production capacity, margins, and operator are real. CTRLALTDEFECT is not building a factory for you.

A real founder contribution.

You are expected to stay involved while engaged. Bring firsthand knowledge, customer access, research, sales ability, operations, a useful skill, existing work, or another contribution the project genuinely needs. Your continuing role and control follow the project terms.

What does not fit

  • A passive idea you want somebody else to build while you wait for a check.
  • A get-rich-quick plan, recruiting scheme, copied product, illegal service, deceptive offer, or business that depends on hiding material facts.
  • A capital-heavy physical operation that cannot be tested within available money, people, equipment, location, or authority.

What does not fit

  • A regulated business with no qualified person responsible for compliance.
  • An idea you cannot discuss honestly because it violates an employer agreement, another person’s rights, or a duty you already owe.

What you need to start

  • You must be at least 18, legally able to accept the applicable agreements, and in a jurisdiction CTRLALTDEFECT currently supports.
  • You do not need a deck, prototype, technical cofounder, investor connection, or polished pitch.

What you need to start

  • You do need a specific problem, a believable person or business that has it, some reason to think the problem is real, and an honest account of what you can contribute.
  • Do not risk rent, food, medical care, debt payments, or other money your household needs. If a project requires capital, the plan and effect on ownership must be written before anyone spends it.

Similar ideas and prior work

  • Protection does not prove that an idea is legally unique, patentable, or unknown to everyone else. It records what you disclosed to CTRLALTDEFECT and governs what the parties may do with that disclosure.
  • CTRLALTDEFECT may already know about, review, or independently work around a similar problem. When a material conflict appears, access is restricted, the conflict is documented, and the submission is reassigned or stopped under the actual agreement.
  • If we Decline, we do not use your protected submission to build the idea with somebody else except as the Mutual Protection Agreement permits. If we had documented prior work, independently develop something, or lawfully receive similar information elsewhere, that agreement explains how it is handled.

If you decide not to continue

  • Before the final Build Review decision, you may withdraw under the Submission Terms. After an Advance, you may decline build planning or close the project under the current written terms.
  • CTRLALTDEFECT may not continue using the protected disclosure unless the Mutual Protection Agreement or a later signed license, assignment, or project agreement permits it.
  • A Develop response may identify evidence you can gather for your own submission. CTRLALTDEFECT does not request, receive, or use productive work without a lawful work agreement. Nonwaivable pay rules control.
