It is for adults with a concrete idea, a stalled but real business, or an ability they can prove. It is built around jobs, families, bills, limited hours, and limited money. It is not for passive idea owners, people looking for a job guarantee, or anyone trying to buy access to a business.

What kinds of businesses fit?

The first lane is online-first: apps, websites, software, online services, digital products, content-backed services, commerce, and practical products that can be sold and tested through a credible online operation. Print, embroidery, merchandise, and similar work can fit when production and fulfillment are real. Capital-heavy facilities, uncontrolled physical builds, illegal or deceptive offers, and regulated work without qualified oversight do not.

Do I have to quit my job?

No. CTRLALTDEFECT does not require you to quit. You remain responsible for checking your employer’s moonlighting, confidentiality, invention-assignment, conflict, equipment, and work-time rules. Do not use employer time, devices, information, clients, or property unless you have the right to do so.

How old do I have to be, and where is this available?

You must be at least 18 and legally able to enter the applicable agreements. CTRLALTDEFECT will show supported jurisdictions before you disclose or accept project work. If the legal, tax, payment, employment, or ownership structure cannot be supported where you live, we do not move you into that agreement.

What does it cost to start?

Creating an account, submitting an idea, receiving the initial Build Review, and creating an Ability Profile cost nothing. A real build can still have software, legal, hosting, research, material, contractor, filing, and other costs. No one pays or fronts a project expense until a written record says who approved it, who pays it, whether it is reimbursed, and whether it changes any economics.

How long does this take?

There is no honest universal timeline. The current intake and review target appear before submission, and a complete submission receives a visible target date. Ability matching has no guaranteed wait time. Each build or contribution states expected hours, meeting cadence, deadlines, and duration before you accept it.

Is this a course, consulting firm, job board, accelerator, or fund?

No. CTRLALTDEFECT does not sell courses, motivation, hourly strategy, public profile placement, or guaranteed funding. It provides a protected operating path for ideas and ability. A specific project can still sign a lawful services, employment, contractor, ownership, funding, or partnership agreement when the facts call for one.

How is my idea protected?

Before you disclose nonpublic details through the designated flow, you and the named CTRLALTDEFECT entity activate the Mutual Protection Agreement. The system then records the submitted version, timestamp, digital fingerprint, access, and later decisions. The actual agreement defines protection, exclusions, duration, permitted recipients, required disclosure, retention, and remedies.

Does the Idea Record prove that I own the idea?

No. It helps show what the system received, when it received it, and whether the stored version changed. It does not create a patent, copyright, trademark, trade secret, or company ownership, and it does not prove novelty or defeat rights held by an employer, client, cofounder, school, or another person.

What if CTRLALTDEFECT has already seen something similar?

Protection covers your nonpublic disclosure, not exclusive ownership of a broad problem, market, or feature. CTRLALTDEFECT checks for related work and reviewer conflicts before deeper access. When a material conflict exists, we restrict access, reassign the review, or stop, and the actual agreement handles public, previously known, lawfully received, and independently developed information.

What if two people submit similar ideas?

Each submission stays on its own protected record. A timestamp does not automatically decide legal ownership or force one project to Advance. Protected details from one submission cannot be used to develop or evaluate the other outside the applicable agreement.

Who can see my submission?

Assigned reviewers, authorized project people after a permitted transition, and necessary service providers may receive only the access needed for the stated purpose. They must be covered by the applicable confidentiality, access, and conflict rules. Material access goes in the audit history.

Where should I never post sensitive information?

Do not put it in email, a general contact form, the Open Floor, an ordinary message, a public resource, or an account-registration field. Community Rules are not a confidentiality agreement. Use only the designated flow after the account shows the applicable protection as active.

Can I submit something connected to my employer, client, school, or cofounder?

Only if you have the right to disclose and use it. An Idea Record does not override a confidentiality, invention-assignment, client, school, cofounder, or ownership duty. If the answer is unclear, stop and get qualified advice before submitting.

Can I withdraw or delete my submission?

You can request withdrawal, which stops active review once processed. A finalized evidence record, access log, signed agreement, or material needed for legal claims may still be retained under the agreement, Privacy Policy, and applicable law. Working copies, account data, sealed evidence, hashes, backups, and audit history follow different rules, which must be stated before submission.

What does the Build Review cover?

The same ten areas: problem, customer, evidence, demand and path to market, solution and advantage, founder contribution, operating constraints, needed ability, economics and risk, and the smallest useful test. Reviewers document the evidence and reasoning. Polish and personality do not change the standard.

Who makes the decision, and can I challenge it?

The Build Review Lead issues Advance, Develop, or Decline after the assigned reviewers document their evidence and recommendation. A separate Process Reviewer handles factual errors, conflicts, missing records, and failures to follow the process. Disagreement alone does not guarantee another review, but genuinely new evidence may.

What do Advance, Develop, and Decline mean?

Advance opens build planning. Develop names a specific gap, owner, evidence target, and possible review date. Decline means CTRLALTDEFECT is not moving forward and explains whether new evidence could justify a later submission. None of the three transfers your idea, and Advance does not guarantee money, people, partnership, or success.

What happens after Advance?

CTRLALTDEFECT and the founder create the first Build Brief and Needs Map: test, owner, budget, schedule, required ability, risks, and stop conditions. Contributors receive private, scoped invitations. If the team, money, authority, or evidence is missing, the project is rescoped, paused, or closed in writing instead of pretending the build has started.

How are contributors chosen?

The Project Build Lead matches the Needs Map against private Ability Profiles and proposes a shortlist. There is no public browsing or bidding. The founder and each contributor decide whether to proceed, and protected project details are shared only after the applicable terms are active.

Does an Ability Profile guarantee calls, work, income, or partnership?

No. It makes you eligible for consideration when a real need matches what you can prove. Every invitation is optional. No profile rank, follower count, bid, or payment improves your place.

Will I be asked to work for free?

Not by implication. A matching call requests no preparation or usable deliverable. CTRLALTDEFECT does not request, receive, or use productive work without a lawful written work agreement that states the scope and exactly what it earns. Nonwaivable pay rules control.

What is an earned right?

It is the exact payment, credit, license, equity, revenue interest, or other right stated in a record signed or accepted through recorded electronic assent after its acceptance condition is met. That Help Record documents the deal and accepted work; the Contribution Ledger preserves the history. Neither creates a right that the controlling terms never granted.

Who decides whether work is accepted?

The Help Record names the acceptance owner and evidence required. Unless it states another period, that owner has seven business days to accept, reject against the original test, or request the agreed cure. On day eight, unresolved work becomes Disputed and goes to the independent Work Dispute Reviewer for a written decision within five business days. The project cannot use the work while the dispute is open.

Who owns work made before a partnership?

The Help Record signed or accepted through recorded electronic assent, or a signed project agreement, decides. It separates pre-existing tools, open-source and third-party material from new work, then states whether the new work stays with the contributor, is licensed, or transfers after a stated condition. A contribution log alone does not transfer IP.

Am I an employee, contractor, volunteer, owner, or partner?

An account, profile, call, Help Record, or ledger entry does not settle that by itself. Before project work begins, the agreement states the intended relationship, paying entity, compensation, taxes, expenses, benefits or lack of benefits, insurance, and jurisdiction. The real relationship and applicable law still control.

How does CTRLALTDEFECT make money?

CTRLALTDEFECT intends to make money from value it helps create, not from selling applicants a dream. Depending on the project, it may earn ownership, revenue participation, recoupment of named costs or advances, a fee, or another stated economic right. There is no automatic standard cut; the exact legal entity, percentage or amount, conditions, priority, authority, and risk appear in a record accepted through the required method before they apply.

Does CTRLALTDEFECT automatically take equity or revenue?

No. Registering, submitting, receiving a review, or creating a profile transfers none. A later project proposal may include those terms, and you may reject the proposal. No signed term means no automatic interest.

Can I buy a partnership?

No. Support, status, connections, or money cannot purchase an invitation. The project must Advance, the relationship must prove itself through real work, CTRLALTDEFECT must invite the conversation, and every named party must agree to the terms.

What exactly would I own?

The Partnership Record names the actual company or project entity, type of interest, cap table, reserved pool, vesting, dilution, financing treatment, voting rights, tax concerns, and issuance steps. The word “partner” on a website does not issue equity.

Does the founder stay in control?

The founder is expected to remain involved while engaged, and the Idea Record continues to identify the person who submitted the protected disclosure. That fact does not decide company control. A continuing role and company control follow the governing agreements, the actual relationship, and applicable law.

Who pays project expenses or funds the build?

Do not assume CTRLALTDEFECT funds an Advance. The Build Brief and later agreements identify budget, capital, expense categories, approval limits, payer, reimbursement, ownership of purchased assets, and what happens if funding is unavailable. Nobody fronts money on an informal promise.

What happens if a test takes customer money before a partnership exists?

Before the first sale or payment, a signed project agreement names the seller or merchant of record, receiving account, refunds, chargebacks, taxes, approved costs, reporting, and allocation of remaining revenue. Nobody runs project money through a personal account unless that agreement expressly names it and the related responsibilities.

What happens at ten months?

Ten months in, everybody has to earn month eleven. The line describes the seriousness of the review, not an automatic cancellation, forfeiture, or loss of rights. The current deal continues unless the parties sign a change or an existing contract right allows a pause or ending.

Money, ownership, and exit

What if the project pauses or fails?

No new work is assumed. Signed terms decide approved cash still owed, deferred amounts, vesting, repurchase, IP, licenses, data, customer duties, debts, assets, records, and access. A record can survive even when the business has no value, and vested equity can be worth nothing.

What does a clean exit mean?

It means the process was agreed before somebody needed to leave. The record covers notice, cause and cure when applicable, work and credential handoff, customer obligations, confidentiality, vested and unvested interests, valuation or buyback, payment timing, expenses, and continuing restrictions. Clean does not mean painless, profitable, or free of disagreement.

Support, privacy, and accounts

Can I delete my account?

You can request account closure and exercise the privacy rights that apply to you. Closing an account does not automatically cancel or erase a Mutual Protection Agreement, Help Record, Partnership Record, legal hold, payment record, or obligation that has its own retention and termination terms. The Privacy Policy explains what can be deleted, de-identified, exported, or retained.

Can I keep copies of my records?

Yes. You can download finalized Idea Records, Help Records, decisions, ledger entries, and signed agreements when they are created. If a project closes or access is scheduled to end, CTRLALTDEFECT provides a final export before access ends when law and safety permit.

What happens if CTRLALTDEFECT stops operating?

Whether closure is planned or forced, CTRLALTDEFECT follows the shutdown process to the extent law, technical ability, and circumstances allow: stop new intake, give available notice, provide available record exports, and close or transfer active work under the controlling agreements. Approved unpaid amounts remain subject to those agreements and applicable insolvency law. Shutdown does not by itself transfer a disclosure, cancel a right, or authorize a new use of project work.
